[glow=green,2,300][shadow=blue,left,300]This is a place where Harry, Ron and Hermione have all spent a considerable amount of time. It is located on the first floor of the castle, and within its realms the authority of Madam Pomfrey – the nurse – is absolute. Not only does she have full authority over her patients, she also calls the shots with the teachers over hospital matters, and has even been known to call rank over Professor Dumbledore. As such, Madam Pomfrey is not to be trifled with – when it comes to medicine she knows what’s best for her patients and will not take “no” for an answers. On the other hand she is far from being a dragon: she is kind and caring, and as far as Harry is concerned she doesn’t ask too many awkward questions if a student is brought in having been half-transformed into a cat.
The hospital wing itself consists of a large room which has beds lined right down two sides of the walls, along with Madam Pomfrey’s office which is also in the area. Students who have received injuries in or around the castle (which seems to happen far more often than at a normal school), or who are ill, will be sent to the hospital wing for magical healing. There aren’t many things Madam Pomfrey can’t fix, though for serious, more long-term injuries or illness, it is likely that a student would be sent to St. Mungo’s.[/shadow][/glow]
